Falling Forward


"OMG!!!  ______ I haven't seen in you in like, forever!!!"  You'd know that voice anywhere; it was Amelia, with all of her annoying excitedness.  "I didn't know you worked here!!!  OMG like I thought you would be working at like Small Wonders or Hot Topic or something like that!!!"  You turned around to see Amelia tackling you in a hug.
"Amelia, you're hurting me."  You managed to choke out.  She released you and helped you up.
"Sorry ______.  What are you doing here?  Working at Mademoiselle Francine?  Seriously."  Amelia asked.
"I needed a job and Francis gave me one.  I mean my band does play every Friday on the stage at that one part of the mall because Ian and Francis decided to help out my band and give us a good review to the owner of the mall."  You told her.  You hated working for your perv of a employer.  Of course you still had a glimmer of hope; Ian promised you a job at Hot Topic where you could work with your crush, you just had to find yourself a replacement so Francis would let you quit.
"Cool!!!  I'm looking for a job and Francis owes me a favor so I thought I'd ask him for a job."  She told you, this was your big chance to get out of this hell hole.
"Well, I've been looking for a replacement so Francis will let me quit.  Because then I can talk to Ian about giving me a job at Hot Topic next door."
"Cool!!!  I'll totally be your replacement!!!  Then we can carpool to work!!!"  She was shouting again, you swear she doesn't HAVE a volume button.
"Koolio, let's got tell the perv that you're my replacement and I'll go next door and tell Ian."
"Okay bro, let's go."  You both walk towards Francis at the back of the store.
"Francis, I quit.  Amelia is my replacement."  You informed him and walked away out the door and into Hot Topic next door.  You walk up to Ian at the counter.
"Hey lass, aren't you supposed to be at work?"  He asked you.
"I finally was able to quit.  I got Amelia a job in my place."
"So you've come for the spot I've kept open for you."
"Yep."
"Good, you start tomorrow lass.  I'll make sure you and Arthur work the same shifts."
"Thanks Ian, I owe you big time."
"I'll remember that."  You turned to leave and then remembered something, the second you turned back he answered before you could speak.  "He gets off at 5 lass."
"Thanks Ian.  Make sure to remind of our gig tonight."
"I will, now go get some lunch or something."
"Okay, see you later."  You walked out of the store with new hope.  You finally get to work with your best friend and crush, Arthur Kirkland.  You walked toward the food court, you were craving chicken nuggets.  You continued on to McDonalds.
"Hi _______ let me guess, the usual?"  Kaci asked when you finally reach the counter.  Kaci was Arthur's younger sister, the bass player in your band, and one of your best friends.
"Yeah, a 10 piece chicken nugget, medium fries, and a large root beer.  I'm gonna get a larger for celebration, I finally found a replacement."
"Awesome!!!  In celebration then, I'll give you an awesome discount."
"Thanks Kaci, don't forget our gig tonight.  I'll come by when you get done with work.  What time do you get off today?"
"4:30, tomorrow I get off at 3.  Al has the dinner shift tomorrow."
"Koolio, tell Al I said hi."  You grabbed your food and walked out to the parking lot to find your old truck so you can go home.  When you finally got home half of your food was gone from munching on it on the way home.  Your apartment felt so empty without your brothers Ludwig and Gilbert there.  Since the incident with your stepdad your brothers and your mom moved to Germany.  You were the only one who stayed because you had priorities.

Your stepfather, more like your birth dad and your brother's stepdad, had lost his job and went to drinking for help.  He had become a serious alcoholic and was becoming abusive to your mother and you.  Your brothers knew nothing about it though, your mother told you not to tell them.  They already hated you stepfather enough, this would set them over the edge.  But one night your brothers had come home before your stepdad.  Your stepfather had come home drunk yet again and was feeling extra abusive that night for some reason.  Tonight he just started slurring something you couldn't understand and came up to your mother holding your youngest brother Jason and slapped your mother.  When Jason started crying he slapped him too.  When Ludwig and Gilbert heard Jason crying they ran downstairs to find your stepfather slapping your mother and Jason.  Angered they came up and told him to stop or they'll have to use force.  Your stepfather turned around and hit them both, this angered your brothers even more so they pinned him down and yelled for you to get some rope.  You ran upstairs into your room where you had rope for repairing your homemade swing in the middle of my room.  You ran down the stairs two at a time and gave them rope.  They tied him up and put duct tape on his mouth so he couldn't speak.  Gilbert went to call the police while you and Ludwig went over to see if your mother and Jason were all right.  After he had been arrested and your mother had finished the divorce papers, they all helped find an apartment for all of us until they moved away that was cheap enough for you to pay rent on your own while they're in Germany.  After a short while they were all packed up and ready to go.  After that you've had two jobs to pay for everything you need/want.
Back to present time on a double rainbow!!!
It was about 4:00 so you changed into a pair of red skinny jeans, a white t-shirt with the British flag on it, a black vest that flowed when you walked, and your favorite high tops.  You grabbed your Ipod and music book and headed out the door to your car.  You stopped by McDonalds to wait for Kaci and Alfred to get off work so you can both head over to Hume n' Bean and get something to drink and get Rory so then you can make it over to Hot Topic to pick up Arthur and all head over to the stage to get ready for the show.
"Hey _______ dude!!!"  You heard Alfred yell as he came from behind the counter Kaci trailing behind.
"Hey Al, hey Kaci you guys ready to go get Rory?"
"Yeah let's go!!!"  Alfred shouts.  He grabs yours and Kaci's hands and runs off in the direction of Hume n' Bean trailing you two behind.  You finally make it to Hume n' Bean and get in line.  You finally reach the counter to see Rory.
"Hey guys, what's it this time?"  Rory asks you guys.
"Shaken iced sweetened passion tea and an everything bagel."  You tell her.
"Strawberry Banana smoothie and a Rice Krispie Treat."  Kaci asks her older sister.
"Caramel Macchiato and a Cake Pop."  Alfred yells.
"And then an Iced Passion Tea lemonade and a plain bagel for Arthur."  You finish.
"Okay, I'll do your guys order and then I'll be done and we can go get my brother."  Says Rory.
